Is the Half Ton Killer Gulity?

To those of you who are not familiar with the story of the "Half ton Killer," from 2008, take a brief moment to get up to date. So there was this lady, Mayra Rosales, who was over 1000 pounds in weight convicted of killing her nephew by falling on him and smothering him to death.

Before:
over 1000 pounds

Well, there was new evidence provided after an autopsy of her nephew as well as a secret that was revealed more than a years later. Evidence show that the child was stuck in the head multiply times and that there were in fact signs of abuse from older wounds and fractures that have heeled. Mayra Rosales was physical unable to commit the crime due to her size.

As the evidence shows, Mayra Rosales finally told the truth that her sister beat her son in the head with a brush. She also stated that she knew about the abuse but did not want her sisters to lose her children so she never reported her. Mayra, took the blame for her nephews murder because she thought she was going to died, so she protected her sister.

After:
350 pounds

As a sister I know for a fact that I would do anything for my siblings. But in the event when other people lives are at stack is being responsible for their actions really worth it? I am not sure if this was the right choice. If she had at least report her sister, maybe she could have gotten help before things got to this point. Even though her sister probably would have lost the kids at least her nephew would still be alive today. Do you think she is guilty by association?
